CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County Commissioner Joe A. Gonzalez will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the Junior Beck Drive reconstruction project. The event will take place on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.
Funding for the project comes from an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement in the amount of $200,000 between the City and Nueces County to design and create construction plans for the project. Additional funding was also provided by a United States Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) reimbursement grant for $3 million and $1.6 million in Bond 2018 Street Funds as well as gas, water, and storm water funding.
“This project is yet another great example of agency collaboration to improve our community and our economy,” said District 3 Councilman Roland Barrera. “The partnership with Nueces County Commissioner Joe Gonzalez, the US Department of Commerce and the City of Corpus Christi will provide for the accessibility and expansion of the industrial area along Junior Beck Road. This project will expand a much-needed tax base for the West Oso Independent School District in addition the opportunity for more jobs.”
