Traffic Signal Upgrades at Airline Road and Ocean Drive Intersection
Will Provide Safety Enhancements
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX— A City contractor will be upgrading the traffic signals at the intersection of Airline Road and Ocean Drive. Scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, the installation will include new mast arms and signal heads. After thorough testing, the new signals will be fully operational.
This initiative is part of a broader in-house project aimed at replacing the traffic signal system that was damaged in a traffic accident in 2021. The project includes several other improvements, including the addition of curb ramps, a sidewalk, and a new high-visibility crosswalk across Ocean Drive. The upgrades also feature Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant pedestrian signals and push buttons, ensuring enhanced accessibility and safety for all residents.
Traffic Impacts:
- Motorists should expect daytime single-lane closures.
Safety remains a top priority, and motorists are encouraged to take alternative routes to prevent delays, stay vigilant in work zones, and adhere to posted signs.
