Table Tennis Players to Compete in Texas Senior Olympics

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A team of 15 senior athletes from Corpus Christi will compete beginning April 7–15, 2018 at the Texas Senior Games in San Antonio, Texas. The local senior athletes will compete in Table Tennis and Pickle Ball.

Senior Table Tennis Team Statistics:

  • Team consists of 15 players, age 50 plus; 7 first time competitors; 3 competing in Table Tennis and Pickle Ball.

  • Dotson Lewis is 89 years old. He is the oldest of this group that will be competing in the 90+ singles, also in the 80 – 84 men’s double.

  • Doris Schultz will be competing in the 85 – 89 singles. She will also compete in the 65 – 69 Women’s Double and 80 – 84 Mixed Double.

  • One member recently competed in the Women’s Basketball 3 on 3 and won a Gold Medal.

The Texas Senior Games, coordinated by the Barshop Jewish Community Center, are a group of spirited competitions whereby senior athletes compete in more than 20 different sports categories, ranging from Pickleball to tennis, track and volleyball, and more. Athletes, including men and women ages fifty and over (by December 31st of the Games year), compete in five-year age increments. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded in each category.  

The 2018 Texas Senior Games is a qualifying year for the 2019 National Senior Games in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
