Solid Waste Services to Honor Transfer Station Crews
Solid Waste Services and City Manager Margie C. Rose will soon recognize transfer station employees for meeting department goals. The employees have increased its productivity and diversion rate to 50 percent.
An assessment conducted several years ago showed only a 20 percent productivity and diversion rate, or the number of trucks going to the transfer station instead of the landfill. Supervisors said the group continues to meet the 50 percent rate and is on track to exceed it. Utilizing the transfer station saves time, fuel, wear and tear on vehicles and provides a more efficient overall operation of the Solid Waste Department.
Those recognized were Jessie Whitby, Dedrick Lampkin, Luis Patino, Jesus Gauna, Jerry Pantoja, Gabriel Marroquin, Jim Young, David Gonzalez, Ronald Palacios,
Adolfo Vacca, Guillermo Torres, Enrique Alba, Juan Guardiola, Sam Vasquez, Stephen Hinojosa, Johnny Garcia, David King, Clifton Moore, Clarence Clark, Mike Young, John Warren, Ricardo Escamilla and Estevan Garza.
