Setting the Standard
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Yvette Dodd-Wallace, Floodplain and Coastal Protection Manager, recently attended the Texas Floodplain Management Association (TFMA) conference in Dallas to educate floodplain managers throughout the state on the hardships they face in their communities.
“There are many Texas communities that are very limited in staffing,” she said. “As a result, the person that is responsible for floodplain management often wears multiple hats leaving little time to focus efforts on property protection. If communities share their knowledge it helps make a more resilient Texas overall.”
Dodd-Wallace was elected as Region 9 Director for the TFMA making her the official representative of South Texas. She was also awarded the Roy D. Sedwick Service Award for her dedication to serving others by providing guidance, education and having a can-do attitude.
Dodd-Wallace has been with Development Services for seven years and also serves the TFMA’s communication and training committees by training floodplain managers locally and across the state throughout the year.
