Serve CC - Make a Difference! Applicants Sought for New Type B Corporation

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – On November 8, 2016, Corpus Christi voters approved Proposition No. 1, adopting a Type B sales tax to replace the portion of the Type A sales tax that expires in 2018.

The City is in the process of establishing the Corpus Christi B Corporation (“Type B Corporation”), a seven-member board that will administer the proceeds of the Type B sales tax to fund economic development, affordable housing and street repair projects.

The City Secretary’s Office is currently accepting applications for two positions on the Corporation’s Board of Directors, who will be appointed by the City Council.  A Director must be at least 18 years of age, and a resident and registered voter of the City.

Applications are due by October 3.  The City Council expects to consider the appointments on October 10.
