Salinas Park Ribbon Cutting for Play-for-All Playground Phases 2 & 3

Celebration on Saturday, April 27th at 10:00 a.m.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department invites everybody to celebrate the Ribbon Cutting of Play-for-All Playground Phases 2 & 3 at Salinas Park on Saturday, April 27, at 10:00 a.m. The park is located at 1354 Airport Road.

The playground, which cost approximately $525,000 was funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in partnership with the Housing and Community Development Department.

Landscape Structure installed the shade and additional swings. Park Operations built the ramp and rail for the slide playground. Play-for-all means this structure is inclusive and provides opportunities for persons of all abilities to play together. Phases 2 and 3 features a shade structure over the playground along with swings, slides with ramp access and signage with Corpus Christi history.

Phase 1 was completed in 2017 and includes two zip-lines; one that a person can hang on to and another that a person in a wheelchair can transfer onto a suspended chair. There is a cozy cove for children with autism who may wish to seek out a quiet spot if things get too overwhelming for them. The Sway Fun Glider allows a person in a wheelchair to glide back and forth along-side of their friends and family. There is also an area with Rhapsody Outdoor Instruments which features chimes, drums, and metallophones.

The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to providing quality, affordable, enrichment programs for all ages and interests.
