“Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront” Offers Free ‘Totally 80s’ 5K/10K and Fitness Classes This Weekend
Come for the Workout, Stay to Support the Islanders
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The “Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront” is offering free ‘totally awesome 80s’ wellness activities this Saturday, April 24, 2021, by hosting a free 5K/10K and fitness classes. The 5K/10K hosted by State Representative Todd Hunter starts at 7:30 a.m. at The Water’s Edge and is limited to 110 participants. All fitness participants are encouraged to work out in their 80s costumes to be eligible to win prizes. All fitness activities will follow COVID-19 safety guidelines. Facial coverings are recommended for ages ten and older. Participants will have their temperature checked at sign-in.
The Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Championship is April 23-25 from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Magee Beach. Support Division I Women’s Volleyball Teams compete in this weekend tournament hosted by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Free fun for the whole family while supporting our local university athletic program. Food trucks will also be available onsite during the event.
The Fitness Lane route begins along the seawall at The Water’s Edge, northbound, towards the American Bank Center with the turnaround just before the barge dock entrance. Walk, jog, run, or bike along the event’s designated 1.50-mile fitness lane (one way). Our community partner, H-E-B, is providing fruit and water for all participants.
In coordination with Victor Betancourt of VFit Productions and the City’s Parks & Recreation Department, the City will offer “Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront” exercise and wellness events for ages eight and older, of all abilities and skill levels, on Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. at The Water’s Edge, 402 S. Shoreline Blvd. HIGH Fitness, Zumba, and Yoga will be held at the Islanders Pavilion next to the playground. The class schedule is available online.
