“Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront” Hosting Free 2021 Run to Tokyo 5K/10K, Walk with a Doc and Fitness Classes This Weekend

Get Moving This Saturday Along the Bayfront

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The “Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront” is offering wellness activities this Saturday, July 17, 2021, by hosting a free 5K/10K, Walk with a Doc, and fitness classes. Sign up for State Representative Todd Hunter’s 2021 Run for Tokyo 5K/10K starts at 7:30 a.m. at The Water’s Edge and is limited to 200 participants. Age Group Awards and Free Chip Timing. 5k will have 5-year age group awards, and the 10k will have 10-year age group awards. Participants will receive a card punch for every class attended this Saturday, July 17.  

Walk with a Doc will be offered on the third Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m. Local Nurse Practitioner Ilaria Reyes will conduct a health education presentation, “Covid Vaccines: Why One Should Get the Vaccine.” A one-mile walk will begin immediately following the presentation.  WellMed Medical Management will also host an information table.

The Fitness Lane route begins along the seawall at The Water’s Edge, northbound, towards the American Bank Center with the turnaround just before the barge dock entrance.  Walk, jog, run, or bike along the event’s designated 1.50-mile fitness lane (one way). Our community partner, H-E-B, is providing fruit and water for all participants.

In coordination with Victor Betancourt of VFit Productions and the City’s Parks & Recreation Department, the City will offer “Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront” exercise and wellness events for ages eight and older, of all abilities and skill levels, on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. at The Water’s Edge, 402 S. Shoreline Blvd. HIGH Fitness, Zumba, and Yoga will be held at the Islanders Pavilion next to the playground. The class schedule is available online.
