Repairs to Resume Tonight to Island’s Major Water Main

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Additional replacement parts that delayed restoration work to The Island’s water main last night have now arrived. Contractors will begin repairs to the major main that provides water services to The Island tonight at 9:30 p.m. Restoration is expected to take six hours to complete, providing no unforeseen complications arise.

While crews repair the main, The Island will get water from the Coral Vines elevated storage tank and the Sand Dollar Pump Station ground storage tanks. During the Island’s lowest water demand window, which is during overnight hours, water tanks will serve customers for six hours. If crews are still undergoing repairs past the tank’s supply capacity, The Island could experience a loss of water until service crews are able to complete their work and bring the water main back online.

The City recommends that Island customers conserve their water use where possible during the repair window starting tonight into early tomorrow morning.

Once repairs are complete, details will be shared with the public as they become available.

The Corpus Christi Water Utilities mission is to provide clean and quality water and wastewater services that respect our environment and our customers can depend on.
