McDonald Library Selected for National ‘NASA@ My Library’ Bilingual Eclipse Opportunities
Resources Will Allow for Cutting-edge NASA Programming and Activities
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Ben F. McDonald Library has been selected to participate in “NASA@ My Library,” an educational initiative to increase and enhance STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) learning opportunities for library patrons.
As one of only 49 libraries nationwide to be part of this initiative, the McDonald Library will receive the following:
- Bilingual solar science kits with portable, user-friendly reflector telescopes best suited for amateur astronomers
- Two sun spotters, or wooden telescopes that use mirrors and a powerful lens to project a solar image onto a white viewing screen
- The “Moonbear Shadow” book and activity
Using elements from the science kit, the McDonald Library will host a bilingual reading of “Moonbear’s Shadow” led by Telemundo Corpus Christi Anchor and Producer Nina Martinez. The Eclipse Storytime event will be held on Friday, October 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 4044 Greenwood Drive.
