City Council Meetings Move to CCRTA Building

Council Chambers to Undergo $918K Renovation

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Beginning on Tuesday, September 19, City Council meetings and Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) meetings will be held at the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) building located at 602 N. Staples Street. This is directly across the street from City Hall.

The move is needed to allow Gourley Contracting to begin the construction and modernization of the Council Chambers. The $918K project is anticipated to take 90 days for construction, with an additional 6 to 8 weeks for IT installation and training.

Residents can sign up for Public Comment on Mondays at City Hall in the Atrium and on Tuesdays at the CCRTA building. City staff and security will be onsite to help guide attendees to and from the building.

Anyone attending a City Council or TIRZ meeting must go through CCRTA security. Once inside the building, they will be escorted by City security to the 2nd floor of the CCRTA building, where the meetings will be held.

The CCRTA is considered a private building; therefore, no knives of any size or guns are permitted in the building.
