CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department and Nueces County Historical Commission will host a National Registry of Historic Places Plaque and Marker Dedication at the Old Bayview Cemetery. Old Bayview Cemetery was created in 1845 and is the oldest federal military cemetery west of the Mississippi River.

Old Bayview Cemetery is officially inducted into the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service. The application to the National Park Service was a project led by Friends of Old Bayview Cemetery Association and the Nueces County Historical Commission.

The dedication will include participation from the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi and Boy Scout Venture Crew 6.
