Several Projects to Impact Traffic Around JFK Causeway

Contractors to Implement Lane Closures in Both Directions

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Beginning Monday, two separate construction projects by non-City contractors will impact traffic along the JFK Causeway, leading to lane closures on both the eastbound and westbound sides of the bridge.

Starting Monday, an AT&T contractor will close westbound sections of the shoulder and outside lane of Park Road 22 on the JFK Causeway for communications work.

The closures are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, beginning near the base of the Intracoastal bridge and working west toward Flour Bluff.

The shoulder and outside lane will be closed in sections of approximately 500 feet at a time and reopened as the work progresses. The left or inside travel lane will remain open during the project. The project is estimated to be completed in 14 days, weather permitting. Travel in the eastbound lanes on the causeway will be unaffected. Law enforcement will be on-site to assist with traffic control.

Starting Monday, a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) contractor will work on the JFK Causeway over the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and implement daily lane closures on both the eastbound and westbound sides of the bridge between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Safety is a top priority, so motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays, remain aware of the work zone, and follow posted signs.
