Emergency Closure on Ocean Drive between Elizabeth Street and Ayers Street

Repairs Expected to be Completed Today

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City initiated an emergency closure at the intersection of Ocean Drive between Elizabeth Street and Ayers Street due to a telecommunications contractor hitting a water main while installing a fiber optic cable. Water service currently remains in place for all customers.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area as a full closure of the southbound lanes of Ocean Drive between Elizabeth Street and Ayers Street will be maintained until repairs are complete.

Ocean Drive at Elizabeth Street is closed to thru traffic. Motorists traveling southbound along Ocean Drive will be detoured at Morgan Avenue.

The northbound left turn lane is closed between Ayers Street and Elizabeth Street. Motorists traveling eastbound on Elizabeth Street will be detoured onto Third Street.

Local access will be provided to Spohn Hospital between Ocean Drive and Third Street. Repairs are expected to take approximately five hours.

Street repair and restoration will immediately follow. Safety remains a top priority, and motorists are reminded to be aware of the work zone, follow posted signs, or find alternate routes to avoid delays.
