City Opens Warming Centers Due to Inclement Weather

RTA Will Offer Free Transportation

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The National Weather Service expects cold temperatures in Corpus Christi through Thursday. Temperatures tonight will be in the upper 30s to low 40s. Winds will remain around 10-15 mph, with wind chills in the low to mid 30s. Rain chances will increase overnight.

Temperatures are not expected to reach freezing levels. Residents are asked to refrain from dripping their faucets.

City staff is conducting outreach, handing out blankets, socks, hats, and information on where the homeless can find shelter.

The City will offer daytime warming centers in each City Council district that are free and open to the public. City warming centers are not a place to sleep or eat. Only service animals are permitted, and no food will be provided.

The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority will provide free transportation to and from the warming centers in the city during available hours. Individuals interested in traveling to and from a warming center can notify their bus operator when boarding to receive fare-free transportation. Current B-Line customers can receive a free ride to and from warming centers by scheduling a trip at 361-289-5881 (press option "1" for English or "2" for Spanish, then press "2" for B-Line service).
