City Initiates Three-Part Plan to Restore Traffic Signals

All Traffic Lanes Open-Everhart and Alameda Temporarily Turned into Four-Way Stop

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – On Sunday, January 15, the eastbound traffic signal at the Everhart Road and Alameda Street intersection fell. The fall occurred after the mast arm support system failed due to age and stress caused by extremely high and sustained wind and rust corrosion. City inspectors found similar conditions on the westbound Alameda Street mast arm and had it removed. The remaining two mast arms across Everhart Road were inspected and found in good condition.

The City has devised a three-part plan to restore traffic signals at the intersection promptly. To begin, temporary portable traffic signals are scheduled to be installed at the intersection by the end of this week.

Concurrently, the City is working to install traffic signals supported by a span wire cable system. The span wire system will serve as a longer-lasting solution until the City can install new mast arms. The City will restore the intersection with permanent mast arms when materials become available.

All traffic lanes are open. CCPD will provide traffic control during peaking driving times.
