Update - Emergency Closure at the Intersection of McArdle Road and Staples Street
Repairs are expected to continue through Friday
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – On Sunday, January 8, the City initiated an emergency closure at the intersection of McArdle Road and Staples Street due to a waterline break. The break was caused by an outside contractor puncturing the water line. Water service is still in place for all customers at this time.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area as southbound traffic on Staples Street will be diverted to McArdle Road. Northbound Staples Street traffic from SPID to McArdle Road is reduced to one lane through the intersection. Westbound McArdle Road traffic will maintain two lanes through the intersection. Eastbound McArdle Road traffic will be closed and diverted onto Staples moving Northbound.
At this time, the repairs are expected to take five days. Waterline and backfill is expected to be completed late Friday. Street repair and restoration will immediately follow. Additional information will be provided once it becomes available.
Safety remains a top priority and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid relays, remain aware of the work zone, and follow posted signs.
