May is National Preservation Month
Kick-Off and Awards Ceremony Planned
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi will celebrate National Preservation Month in May to recognize the importance of historic sites and landmarks and residents' contributions to preserving the City's local heritage and the nation's history. Historic preservation enhances the local economy through heritage tourism and creates a sense of place through community revitalization. Several activities are planned for National Preservation Month:
- On Tuesday, May 10, the Mayor will proclaim May as National Preservation Month at 11:00 a.m. before the regular City Council meeting in Council Chambers at City Hall, 1201 Leopard Street.
- On Thursday, May 26, the Corpus Christi Landmark Commission will host an awards ceremony to recognize local preservation efforts and announce the Historic Preservation Photo Contest winners. The event will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 1201 Leopard Street.
