Short-Term Rental (STR) Registration Available Online
STR Operators Must Register to Stay in Compliance with New Ordinance
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi City Council passed an ordinance on January 11, requiring all legally operating, correctly zoned Short-Term Rental (STR) units in Flour Bluff and North Padre Island to register for a permit with the City of Corpus Christi beginning Tuesday, March 15. The registration fee is $50 per year. Registrations can be done online.
The ordinance allows property owners in commercial and multifamily-residential zones to operate an STR, but they must be registered to avoid citations. STRs cannot operate in single-family residential zones anywhere inside the city limits at this time.
STRs are defined as all or a portion of a residential dwelling that rents out for fewer than 30 days and not less than 12 hours.
Legal STR units operating in the remainder of the city will be required to register and obtain a permit by July 11.
The City has developed a webpage where STR owners and property managers can find information about the registration process and use a link to the registration portal at www.cctexas.com/str
