Redistricting is drawing the lines of districts from which council members are elected. It ensures that each district has roughly an equal number of people. It is required by law, and it takes place every ten years after the Census. Redistricting is significant because it impacts how neighborhoods and communities will be represented on the City Council.

The Corpus Christi City Council currently has five single-member districts, three at-large members, and one mayor elected at-large.

To learn more about the 2022 redistricting process, citizens can go to the City’s Redistricting webpage at www.cctexas.com/redistricting to view the resolution adopting criteria for use in the redistricting process, view current and proposed maps as they become available, leave a public comment or see a schedule of meetings.
