Redistricting is the process of drawing the lines of districts from which council members are elected. It ensures that each district has roughly an equal number of people. It is required by law, and it takes place every 10 years after the census. Redistricting is significant because it impacts how neighborhoods and communities will be represented on the City Council.
The Corpus Christi City Council currently has five single-member districts, three at-large members, and one mayor elected at-large.
