City Establishes School Zone for Promesa Charter School
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi’s Public Works Department recently established a school zone for Promesa College Prep-West Corpus Christi. The established school zone is along Morgan Avenue and Baldwin Boulevard to remind motorists they are either approaching or adjacent to a school area. Public Works crew installed signage and pavement markings to indicate the school area’s boundaries and reduced speed limit between the hours of 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
This project is the latest on behalf of the City’s Vision Zero program. The Vision Zero program strives to eliminate all traffic fatalities and serious injuries involving pedestrians and bicyclists while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility throughout Corpus Christi.
As part of the upcoming ‘Safe Routes to School’ program, the City will locate and evaluate areas across Corpus Christi to improve the safety of routes near and around schools.
District 2 Councilmember Ben Molina encourages residents to stay vigilant in school zones and watch out for students. “This will give students greater confidence and drivers greater awareness of the school zone.”
