City of Corpus Christi’s Final Two Hurricane Preparedness Free Sandbag Distribution Events
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – In preparation for hurricane season, which began June 1, the City’s Public Works Department planned to distribute free prefilled sandbags to the public in four different areas of the city throughout the month of June. Two of the four events took place last week. The final two events will take place on Saturday, June 19.
Public Works crews will partner with military volunteers from Naval Air Station (NAS) Corpus Christi to distribute the prefilled sandbags for the final two events. Both events will occur on Saturday, June 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or until all sandbags are gone. One of the locations will be at Waldron Field, 3746 Waldron Road. The other location will be at City Service Center on Civitan at 5352 Ayers.
Residents will receive a maximum of seven free sandbags per vehicle. Drivers will be asked to clear an area in the trunk or bed of their vehicle to stow the sandbags. Drivers and passengers must remain inside their cars while sandbags are loaded.
