City to Host Free Water Safety Day on May 15

Event Open for All Ages at Collier Pool

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Nearly 8,000 people die from drowning in the U.S. alone annually. In observance of National Water Safety Month, the Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department will host a Water Safety Day on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 1–4 pm at Collier Pool, 3801 Harris Drive. The event is open FREE for all ages, and registration is not required, so please join us!

Our aquatics staff encourages everyone to learn how to swim, and they also encourage safety precautions and practices to prevent injuries or drowning. These safety measures can be applied when swimming in a pool, lake, or any body of water. Event participants will also learn about rip currents and how to swim out of one while at the beach. Our certified instructors will make learning water safety fun by incorporating lessons into games, activities, and prizes.

New health and safety procedures will be practiced to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All pool visitors/participants are encouraged to wear a mask and have their temperature checked when entering the facility and any time while on the pool deck area. Masks are not required when in the pool swimming. Patrons are encouraged to adhere to the 6 feet of physical distancing on the pool deck. Visit Play It Safe Covid-19 Updates for additional restrictions and safety guidelines that apply.
