Overnight Freeze Warning Friday into Saturday

Citizens Alerted to Protect People, Pipes, and Pets

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The National Weather Service has forecasted that the Corpus Christi area will again experience several hours of at or below freezing temperatures tonight and into Saturday morning.

Water customers need to protect all exterior or exposed water pipes with insulation of any kind. Dripping faucets also could prevent water pipes from freezing. Dripping-faucets should be turned off when temperatures are safely above freezing to conserve water.

The City has provided the following link that shows how to shut off water at the meter. https://youtu.be/u6LsqvYpquo. Customers who are unable to locate the service main shut-off valve can email requests directly for main shutoffs only.  Emails can be sent to: waterquality@cctexas.com. If you do not have access to email, you can request a service main shut-off by contacting our call center at (361) 826-CITY.

Pets should be brought in overnight to protect them from extreme elements of tonight’s freeze.

The City’s Customer Call Center has extended its operation to 24 hours a day. Residents can call 361-826-CITY (2489).

For water utility inquiries, media representatives can contact Strategic Communications Manager Amber Oetting at 361-826-1844 or by email at ambero@cctexas.com.
