CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant located at 13101 Leopard Street will be conducting a hazmat drill on Friday, February 12th. First responders will take part in the event which will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Media personnel should arrive in advance of the drill by 8:30 a.m. After that time, plant access will be restricted to only emergency personnel participating in drill.
During the drill, northwest Corpus Christi residents will notice colored smoke coming from the plant (between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.) and a large presence of emergency vehicles. The training is not expected to impact traffic and signs will be placed along Leopard Street to alert motorists training is in progress. For safety reasons, residents are asked to avoid the area until the drill is complete.
