New CCIA Director & Deputy Director will continue to Advance Airport Improvements

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – City Manager Peter Zanoni has appointed a new Director and Deputy Director at Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA). 

Kevin Smith is now serving as Director of Aviation at CCIA. Kevin came to the City back in April of 2020 and has served as Assistant Director until his promotion this week. Kevin graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a Master of Science in Aeronautics. Kevin has more than 30 years of combined experience as Assistant Vice President at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and with Southwest Airlines.

Tyler Miller also came to CCIA in April to serve as Assistant Director. Tyler has been named Deputy Director of Aviation which will expand his role in managing the airport organization. A graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management, Tyler previously worked as Airport Operations Manager in South Bend, Indiana, and Airport Operations Supervisor at Clearwater Airport in Florida. 

“Attracting and developing top talent for all City’s leadership positions has been a key priority of mine for the past 20 months,” said City Manager Peter Zanoni. “The recruitment and recent promotion of Kevin and Tyler puts their talent at the forefront of our airport operations. They already have demonstrated their ability to improve our airport operations, and their work will continue to have significant benefits for air travel for the coastal bend region.”

Kevin and Tyler have a combined 39 years of experience in executive leadership in Aviation. 

The appointments follow the retirement of former Director Fred Segundo who left his post on January 29 after 13 years of service to the City.
