COVID-19 2nd Week of Allocations

CORPUS CHRISTI TX – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an emergency use authorization on December 18, 2020 for the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is for the prevention of COVID-19 in individuals 18 years of age and older.  

With the authorization, Moderna vaccine distribution is scheduled to begin this week. According to the Department of State Health Services, 620,400 doses will be shipped to 1,100 Texas providers in 185 counties in week two of vaccine distribution. These doses will be comprised of 460,500 vaccines by Moderna and 159,900 by Pfizer-BioNTech. Nueces County’s 2nd week allocation will be approximately 5,800 doses.

With the availability of two vaccine manufacturers, more vaccine will be readily available, and more persons will be eligible to receive the vaccine.
