“Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront” Hosting “Run the District” Free 5K/10K, Fitness Classes and Play Zone This Saturday
10K New Addition to Fitness Along Bayfront
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The “Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront” and State Representative Todd Hunter are hosting “Run the District” free 5K and 10K along the Fitness Lane this Saturday, December 12, 2020. The 5K/10K starts at 7:30 a.m. at The Water’s Edge and is limited to 200 participants. All fitness activities and 5K/10K participants will follow COVID-19 safety guidelines. Facial coverings are recommended for ages 10 and older. Participants will have their temperature checked at sign-in.
The Fitness Lane route begins along the seawall at The Water’s Edge, northbound, towards the American Bank Center with the turnaround just before the barge dock entrance. Walk, jog, run, or bike along the event’s designated 1.50-mile fitness lane (one way). 10K participants will follow signage for extended route. Participants will be entered in a drawing for prizes.
This weekend also features a Play Zone, for ages 5 and over, to play micro-soccer, hula hoop and rock-paper-scissors. Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront continues to offer free fitness activities for all ages and skill levels. Our community partner, H-E-B is providing fruit and water for all participants.
In coordination with Victor Betancourt of VFit Productions and the City’s Parks & Recreation Department, the City will offer “Safe Fun-Fit at the Bayfront” exercise and wellness events for ages 8 and older, of all abilities and skill levels, on Saturdays from 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. at The Water’s Edge, 402 S. Shoreline Blvd. HIIT Camp, Zumba and Yoga will be held at the Islanders Pavilion next to the playground. The class schedule is available online.
