Vector Control Post Storm Mosquito Prevention
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Following heavy rains from Hurricane Hanna, the City’s Vector Control unit is treating standing water throughout the city with larvicide to prevent mosquitoes. Crews will monitor mosquito traps across the city and start spraying for adult mosquitoes where needed.
From Monday, July 27 through Friday July 31, crews will be treating standing water in ditches in routes 1 – 8 (Calallen and Annaville areas), and route 9 and 10 (near North Beach). Workers will be using larvicide to stop larva from turning into adult mosquitoes. Next week, workers will begin spraying larvicide in routes 28, 29 and 27 (Flour Bluff).
These schedules are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions and wind speeds.
Vector Control will be monitoring mosquito traps daily to see if there is an increase in the adult mosquito population and will begin spraying those areas immediately.
We encourage residents to assist by draining and treating any standing water on their property.
