Council Member Paulette M. Guajardo Donates Laptops for Veterans at La Retama Library

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - A contribution by Council Member At-Large Paulette M. Guajardo through the Friends of the Corpus Christi Public LIbraries has made a new program possible, "the Veterans Laptop Loaner Program", for veterans. The City of Corpus Christi La Retama Central Library will launch a new program to give veterans access to additional technology resources. Veterans will have up to four hours to use dedicated computers for accessing benefits, searching for jobs, and conducting personal business.

“I’m pleased to have been able to assist in providing this much needed resource for our veterans,” said Council Member Paulette M. Guajardo. “The computers are only a small way we can repay their service to our country and assure they have access to the technology they need,” added Guajardo.

Council Member Guajardo worked with the Texas Veterans Leadership Program to create this new initiative. “Veterans have unique needs for accessing technology. This program will be a great tool for area veterans,” said Gina Bohnert. The no-cost laptop checkout is exclusive to La Retama Central Library located at 805 Comanche Street. Veterans interested in using a laptop must present a Veteran’s ID and a library card.

The checkout period is limited to four-hours of use inside the library and reservations are required. For reservations or questions about the program, call the La Retama Central Library at 361-826-7055.
