Firefighter to be Tested for COVID-19
April 02, 2020
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi reports the spouse of a Fire Department Captain tested positive yesterday for COVID-19. The Captain will be tested tomorrow morning during our Public Health District Drive Through Collection.
Five firefighters who the Captain came in contact with recently are presumed to be of low-risk exposure to COVID-19. The firefighters will be quarantined starting this evening and will be provided an option to be tested by a private lab tomorrow. Next steps will depend on the Firefighter Captain's test results tomorrow.
The City of Corpus Christi is committed to ensuring the safety of first responders and will take necessary action to protect personnel, their families, and the community.
