Firefighters Quarantined Due to Possible Exposure to COVID-19
March 28, 2020
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Last night two firefighter paramedics were placed in quarantine after potential exposure to COVID-19 after transporting a patient. They were wearing full protective gear that included safety glasses but not goggles. Earlier this week Centers for Disease Control (CDC) made guideline changes regarding specific types of protective equipment recommending googles versus safety glasses.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Health District has recommended the firefighters be isolated since they are at risk. The patient who was hospitalized was tested by the hospital for COVID-19 and results are pending. The Fire Department has subsequently instructed all firefighters of the heighten recommendation on protective equipment.
