Prepare to Takeoff and Run the Runway @ CCIA

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Ready. Set. Takeoff! Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA) is preparing to host a community event that will take participants to places they’ve never been before. On Saturday, November 23, 2019, CCIA will host a 5K run on one of the airport’s runways. Participants will get to experience the airport in a whole new way.

The 5K is a competitive, chipped run for both experienced and not so experienced runners and walkers. Prior to the start of the 5K, the Patriot Guard Riders will “ride” the runway beginning at 7:35am. Immediately following the ride, kids will be lined up for a quick 1K. At 8:00am, the 5K run will begin. During the event, participants can get up close and personal with many different kinds of airplanes and emergency response vehicles.

All money raised through registration and sponsorships will benefit USO South Texas. The USO is an organization dedicated to helping the men and women who are currently serving our nation. From free lunches on base, to family events and entertainment – the USO is the force behind the forces. Late Registration runs through race day. You can register here.

Members of the media can contact CCIA Marketing Manager Kim Bridger-Hunt with questions about the event at 361-774-7871.

Media members who would like to cover the event can park in the designated VIP parking lot while they are at the site, which is located at the Maintenance Facility on Hangar Lane. Directions: Turn on to International Drive like you are heading to the terminal. Take a left on Glasson. Then a right on Hangar Lane. The VIP parking lot is there at the Aviation Maintenance facility on the left. The entrance gate is just south of the building.
