Weekly Road Closures October 12 – 18

NOTE: ALL CLOSURES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER, EMERGENCY WORK, OR OTHER CURRENT EVENTS.

Update – Morgan Avenue (AEP)

Beginning Saturday, October 12, 2019, AEP will implement a right lane closure on Morgan Avenue.

Westbound Morgan Avenue will be reduced to one lane starting at Ocean Drive and will continue to 10th Street.

Eastbound Morgan Avenue will be reduced to one lane starting at 10th Street. Eastbound traffic will then shift to the north and continue to Ocean Drive on the westbound lanes.

Temporary lane closures are estimated to be in place for several months.

 New – Greenwood (TxDOT Emergency Utility Work)

Beginning Monday, October 14, 2019, utility contractors will implement the following lane closures.

Southbound Greenwood Drive: The right lane will be closed starting approximately 600-feet north of the South Padre Island Drive Intersection. Southbound traffic will then shift to the east, into the left turn lane, and continue as one lane through the intersection.

Northbound Greenwood Drive: The center turn lane will be closed starting 600-feet south of the South Padre Island Drive intersection and continue as two lanes through the intersection.

Lane closures are estimated to last several months.

Update – Mexico Street (Mastec – Harbor Bridge Utility Relocation)

Beginning Monday October 14, 2019, utility contractors will implement lane shifts on Leopard Street that will shift eastbound and westbound traffic to the north or south half of Leopard Street. Lane shifts are expected to last 3 days.

Mexico Street, between Leopard Street and Antelope Street, will also be closed to all traffic during this time. This street closure is expected to last several weeks.

The existing temporary street closure on Mexico Street, between Leopard Street and Mestina Street, will continue during the upcoming lane shifts and additional street closures. Mexico Street closure is expected to last several weeks.

Update – Everhart Road – Holly Road to South Padre Island Drive (18014A, Type B)

Beginning Wednesday, October 16, 2019, Everhart Road (Southbound) will be reduced to one lane starting at Coventry Lane up to the Holly Road intersection and will shift from the west to the east (northbound lanes). Left turns will still be prohibited at the Holly Road intersection for southbound traffic.

Everhart Road (Northbound) will also be reduced to one lane starting at Schanen Boulevard and continue up to Cain Street. Traffic heading northbound on Everhart Road will still be allowed to make left turns at the Holly Road intersection.

Holly Road (Westbound) - The right turn lane on westbound Holly Road will continue to be closed. Right turns onto northbound Everhart Road are being allowed from the right lane. This phase of construction is expected to last a couple of weeks.

New – Everhart Road – (AEP)

Beginning Wednesday, October 16, 2019, Everhart Road (northbound lanes), utility contractors will implement a temporary right lane closure between Cain Drive and Bonner Drive. This lane closure is an extension of the project lane closure and will be implemented on a daily basis for utility work.

Update – Slough Road – Rodd Field Road to Amethyst (18042A, Type B)

Beginning Friday Oct 18, 2019, contractors will implement the next phase of construction. During this time Slough Road, between Boomerang Drive and Pennie Way, will be converted to ONE WAY traffic westbound. be implementing a one lane closure at the cul-de-sac on Slough Road reducing traffic to one lane for both directions. One way traffic is expected to last several months.

The newly constructed Amethyst Drive will be open to traffic.

Ft Worth Street- (AEP)

Contractors will temporarily close the northbound lane of Ft Worth Street between Stirman Street and Cullen Street. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic around closure. Work will begin 8am and expected to end at 4pm. This closure is expected to last several weeks.

Glenoak Drive- Flour Bluff Drive to Waldron Road (AEP)

Contractors will be implementing temporary lane closures on the eastbound lane of Glenoak Drive. Flaggers will be present to guide drivers around the closures. This work will begin daily at 8:30am and expected to end at 5pm.  Work is expected to last a couple of months.

Burleson (Winters Construction – Harbor Bridge Utility Relocation)

Utility contractors will continue implementing an intersection closure at Seagull Boulevard and Burleson Street. During this time westbound traffic on Burleson Street will be reduced to one lane. Seagull Boulevard will be closed restricting traffic from turning movements from Burleson Street on Seagull Boulevard. Only local traffic will be allowed onto Seagull Boulevard from Churchdale Avenue. Temporary lane closures start are expected to last a couple of months.

Born Street- (Mastec)

Contractors will have the westbound shoulder lane of Born Street between South Water Street and South Chaparral Street temporally closed.  The work will begin at 8am and is expected to end at 6pm. The construction is expected to last approximately 2 weeks.

Old Robstown Road – Highway 44 to Leopard Street (E13098, Bond 2014)

Construction continues as final punch list items are addressed. Various lane closures maybe required.

Rodd Field Road – Saratoga Boulevard to Yorktown Boulevard (E15112, Bond 2014)

Rodd Field Road between Brook Road and Airline Road/Slough Road remains ONE WAY northbound.

Traffic traveling southbound on Rodd Field Road is being detoured onto Saratoga Boulevard to Airline Road. Only local traffic should continue past the intersection of Rodd Field Road and Saratoga Boulevard.

The Rodd Field Road and Yorktown Boulevard intersection remains closed.  

Yorktown Boulevard – Everhart Road to Staples Street (E130196, Bond 2014)

Construction along this stretch of Yorktown Boulevard continues as final punch list items are addressed. Various lane closures maybe required. The contractor estimates another 4 weeks to complete the other punch list items on this project.

Flato Road – Bates Road to Agnes Street (E15110, Bond 2014)

Construction progresses on Flato Road as contractors continue working on installing underground utilities along this stretch of road. Flato Road will continue as ONE WAY southbound only between Agnes Street and Bates Road. Construction warning signs and detour signs will guide traffic around the closure.  Northbound traffic on Flato Road at the Bear Lane intersection will be open to local traffic only.

Bates Road will continue to be closed to all traffic at Flato Road. Traffic needing to travel eastbound on Bates Road to get to Flato Road will continue to follow the detour in place to guide them around the closure. Bates Road, between North Padre Island Drive and Flato Road, will be open to local traffic only.

Airline Road extension detour.

Gollihar Road – Weber Road to Staples Street (E13087, Bond 2014)

Construction along this stretch of Gollihar Road continues as final punch list items are addressed. Various lane closures maybe required. The contractor estimates another 6 weeks to complete the punch list items on this project.

Carroll Lane – McArdle Road to Houston Street (E13097, Bond 2014)

Carroll Lane continues as one way southbound between Brawner Parkway and Gollihar Road.

Traffic traveling northbound will continue following the detour in place to guide them around the Carroll Lane one way only limits.

Staples Street – Kostoryz Road to Brawner Parkway (E12095, Bond 2012)

Traffic traveling northbound and southbound on Staples Street will continue as two lanes between Kostoryz Road and Texan Trail.

Kostoryz Road will continue with one left turn lane during this phase.

North Beach Area Road Improvements & Area Beautification (E12127/ E12129, Bond 2012)

Construction on North Shoreline Boulevard continues with various lane closures within the work zone.

Artesian Street (Tracker Energy Services – Harbor Bridge Utility Relocation)

Utility contractors continue to have Artesian Street temporarily closed between Antelope Street and Buffalo Street. Traffic traveling in this area will need to seek alternate routes.

Poth Street (Strike LLC)

Contractors will continue to implement temporary street closures at the intersection of Poth Street and Tribble Lane. Street closures will be done only when large haul trucks are moving out of private property onto the roadway. Intermediate street closures are expected to last a month.

Staples Street (AEP)

AEP contractors will continue daily temporary lane closures on northbound Staples Street between Brawner Parkway and Anderson Street. Temporary lane closures are estimated to be in place for weeks. The work will begin daily at 8am and is expected to end at 4:30pm.

Holly Road (AEP)

Contractors will continue performing utility work on Holly Road between Lexington Road and Ennis Joslin Road. During this time there will be various lane closures based on the contractor’s operations. Flaggers will assist motorists around the work zone during construction hours.

Belmeade Drive (Clark Pipeline Services – IDIQ Utility Relocation)

Daily temporary lane closures will continue on Belmeade Street, between Orms Drive and Stratton Drive, reducing vehicular traffic down to one lane for both directions.

Airline Road (Bay LTD)

Contractors will be implementing various daily temporary lane closures on both directions of Airline Road between South Padre Island Drive and Holly Road. Various Daily lane closures will be short in length reduce southbound or northbound traffic to one lane. Daily temporary lane closures start at 9:00am and are expected to end at 4:00pm. Construction is expected to last several weeks.
