City Recreation Centers to Offer Classes and Its After School Program This Fall

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation will offer classes and the afterschool program this fall season at its recreation centers. For more information or to register, please call (361) 826-2322 or visit www.ccparkandrec.com.

Recreation Centers Afterschool Program is a FREE open campus program offered for ages 6-16, Monday through Friday from 3-7pm at all four City recreation centers. It will start on August 26, 2019 and run throughout the school year. Youth will have opportunities to engage in recreation and socialize under general supervision. Activities may include homework tutorials, sports, arts and crafts, games and more. A FREE afternoon snack will be provided daily. Online registration is required and ongoing, space permitting. 

Street Dance Class is offered for children ages 3 to adults on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7pm at the Oso Recreation Center, 1111 Bernice Drive. Learn popular forms of street dance which include break-dance, popping, locking and house dance. This class will incorporate funk and hip-hop dance styles with cardio, squats, turns, jumps and stretching for a great workout. Professional instruction is provided by Jacob Murphy. Register online for $30/month.

Adult Aerobics Class is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm at the Lindale Recreation Center, 3133 Swantner Drive. The class incorporates the use of weights and resistance for strength training, as well as, kickboxing, step-bench, body sculpting, and ab work. It also includes exercises for flexibility and relaxation. Professional instruction is provided by Cheryl Vandever. Register online for $25/month.

Karate Class is offered for ages 5 to adults on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7pm at the Oso Recreation Center, 1111 Bernice Drive. Participants will be taught the basic techniques of punching, striking, kicking and blocking. Professional instruction is provided by John Castillo. Register online for $40/month or $10/day drop-in fee.
