Forever Young Celebration

“Celebrate Life” 90+ Years. Photo Opportunity on June 26, 2:00p.m.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s Program Services will be hosting the 5th annual event “Celebrate Life” 90+ years in honor of 34 senior center members who attend eight senior centers in the City. The event will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Garden Senior Center, 5325 Greely Drive.

We will be celebrating center members who have reached a birthday milestone, nine decades of memories, 1,080 months of happiness, 4,696 weeks of love, 32,873 days of wisdom, and 788,952 hours of laughter. They are sharing their wisdom and experience with future generations, and they are giving back to help enrich their communities. They are taking part in activities that promote wellness and social connection. We are blessed to say that we have had the pleasure of knowing such special people.

“While we are living in the present, we must celebrate life every day, knowing that we are becoming history with every work, every action, every deed.” – Mattie Stepanek

We want to show them our respect, appreciation and celebrate their life. It is becoming more apparent that remaining socially engaged can improve the quality of life for older adults. Among these members, Albert Diemert, a World War II Veteran, and Gladys Barnes, will each be presented a special recognition for being the oldest senior center members at 97 years old.
