Water Community Invites Consumers to ‘Protect the Source’ During Drinking Water Week

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi is kicking off Drinking Water Week with an invitation to “Protect the Source” throughout the region.

The City of Corpus Christi, the American Water Works Association and the water community across North America will celebrate Drinking Water Week by recognizing the vital role drinking water plays in our daily lives. We are focused on how water consumers can take personal responsibility in caring for their tap water and protecting it at its source.

“Over the past 3 years, the City has made substantial operational improvements to ensure excellent water quality,” said Interim City Manager Keith Selman. “The outstanding performance by the City’s team led the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to designate our system as a “Superior Public Water System” in 2018.”

To commemorate the week, water utilities, water organizations, government entities, environmental advocates, schools and other stakeholders will celebrate the importance of quality drinking water through presentations, social media awareness and other outreach to provide information on how consumers can understand and appreciate their water supply.
