Two Demonstrations on Saturday, December 1st. Register Today!

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Did you grow up gathering in the kitchen to make tamales with your family? This is a time-honored Mexican tradition that is a wonderful part of the holidays.

The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s Cultural Services invites you to its historic Galván House in Heritage Park to watch and learn how to make tamales. Join us to learn about the tradition, techniques and cooking tips at our popular seasonal cooking demonstration. Two classes will be offered on Saturday, December 1, at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm at the Galván House located at 1581 N. Chaparral Street.

Don’t miss this savory holiday tradition. Join us as the inventor of the ‘Mas Tamales’ masa spreader Sandra Vásquez will demonstrate how to make tamales with a glide of the hand. If you like the idea of shaving off time without compromising taste in the kitchen, come to learn how to spread masa on a dozen cornhusks in about a minute! Cost is $10 per person and includes the demonstration, recipes, and food samples. All participants will be required to pay in advance. Seating is limited to 30 participants, so call (361) 826-3411 early to register and secure your place.

Reasonable accommodations are provided upon request and in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. For assistance or to request a reasonable accommodation, please call (361) 826-3411 at least 48 hours in advance.
