City Offers Free Pilot Lighting Service for Seniors

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – With colder temperatures headed our way, many residents are having their heating systems checked out in preparation for the winter. The City of Corpus Christi’s Gas Department is offering a free service to some customers to assist with pilot lighting.

As part of the program, citizens 65 years and older, are eligible to receive a visit from a technician to light one appliance a year. Residents can call 361-826-CITY (2489) to schedule an appointment. The service is available throughout the year but experiences a higher number of requests during the colder months.

Pilot lighting is for residential heating systems with a gas pilot light, not an electronic ignition.
