New Emergency Response Vehicle to be unveiled at Corpus Christi International Airport

It’s brand new and custom built for the kind of emergencies that can happen at an airport.  The Public Safety Division at Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA) is ready to show off a new Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) truck.  The airport took delivery on the truck several weeks ago and since then, public safety officers have been training on the new technology that is on board.

The new ARFF truck has thermal imaging capability, is equipped with tires that allow off-roading in fields and brush, and has a high reach, extendable turret that can pierce through an airplane if there is a fire inside.  The ARFF truck was paid for with a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at a 90/10 local match.  The cost of the truck was $858,390.

We are inviting the media to come out and see how this new ARFF vehicle works and how it can be used to save lives in the event of an emergency.
