Applicants Sought for Vacant City Council Position

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Corpus Christi City Council is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in filling the City Council position vacated by District 1 Council Member Carolyn Vaughn, who was recently appointed to the Nueces County Commissioners’ Court.

According to the City Charter, the remaining council members must appoint a new council member to fill the vacant position. The City Council will accept applications from March 22, 2018 through April 6, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. 

Applications must be filed in the City Secretary’s Office and must include the following:

  1. Application for Appointment to the City Council;

  2. Resume;

  3. Questionnaire;

  4. Criminal Background Check Authorization; and

  5. Report of Financial Information.

The qualifications for the position are:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen;

  • Must be 18 years of age or older;

  • Must not be mentally incapacitated;

  • Must not be a felon;

  • Must have resided continuously in Texas for the past 12 months and in City Council District 1 for the past 6 months;

  • Must be registered to vote in City Council District 1;

  • Must maintain residence in City Council District 1 throughout the term of office; and

  • Must not owe delinquent taxes to the City.
