City Introduces New Reservoir System Stages
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Today, City Council approved revisions to the Drought Contingency Plan. After guidance from Council Members, the City introduced new “Reservoir System Stages” to replace the previous “Drought Response Stages.”
The “Reservoir System Stages” implement new trigger points for water supply management. Under this system, Stage One begins when the combined capacity of Choke Canyon Reservoir and Lake Corpus Christi is “less than 40%” rather than “less than 50%.”
The new Reservoir System stages are as follows:
Stage 1 - Mild; Less than 40%
Stage 2 - Moderate; Less than 30%
Stage 3 - Critical; Less than 20%
Stage 4 - Emergency; N/A
Therefore, at this time, the City of Corpus Christi is not in a drought and is not under any stage of this plan. As always, water conservation measures are in effect and encouraged.
