The City of Corpus Christi Offers Rain Barrels

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A rain barrel is an environmentally-friendly way to harvest and utilize rain water. The Water Resources Division is once again offering rain barrels for sale to the City’s water customers at a reduced price.

Rain barrels can be purchased for $47 plus tax, which is less than half the retail price. The 55 gallon container captures rain water from roof-tops by connecting to the home’s downspout. Water collected by rain barrels can be used for gardens, lawns, washing cars and pets.

The barrels are made of re-purposed (not new) BPA–free plastic and include two built-in fittings, a ¼ turn ball valve and a child-proof locking lid and are available in black or terracotta.

Rain barrels can be purchased only in-person at Central Cashiering located on the first floor of City Hall, 1201 Leopard Street. Customers will then pick up purchased containers at the City’s Warehouse located at 5352 Ayers Street, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

There is a limit of two barrels per household, based on availability. All sales are final.
