La Retama Library Celebrates Books, Art and Music

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Get lost in the wonder of storytelling when you bring the whole family to the Celebrate Books, Art and Music event which will take place Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at La Retama Central Library, 805 Comanche Street.

The fun begins with a children’s parade where participants can dress up as their favorite character. Check-in for the parade is at 9:00 a.m. Other activities include arts and crafts, DinosAlive CC, art vendors, food trucks, live music, a chance to meet local authors and illustrators, a fashion show, face painting and lots more. Most of the children’s activities are free.

The closing reception for the Chicas Bonitas exhibit, which has been on display at the La Retama Central Library for since March, will also be a part of the event. This unique collection of art focuses on various aspects of Latino femininity and spotlights several pieces created by local youth.

The Celebrate Books, Art and Music event is made possible by participating partners and sponsors which include the Friends of Corpus Christi Public Libraries, United Way Success by 6, curator of Chicas Bonitas Mayra Zamora, Del Mar College, Texas A&M University and Texas A&M Agrilife Extension.
