City Finance Receives Special Award for Transparency Efforts

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi Finance Department’s star is rising. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has recognized the City of Corpus Christi as the latest government entity to achieve the specific transparency goals of the Texas Comptroller’s Transparency Stars program, which acknowledges outstanding efforts in making spending and revenue information available.

The City’s Finance Controller Judy Sandroussi was instrumental in helping attain this impressive distinction. Her efforts in coordinating the documentation and submission of the City’s financial information were essential in the achievement of this honor.

“The City of Corpus Christi’s Finance staff has worked very hard to earn the first of five Texas Comptroller’s Transparency Stars,” says Finance Director Constance Sanchez. “Transparency is paramount for local government, and the more information we are able to provide the citizens of Corpus Christi, the better informed the citizens will be regarding the operations of the City.”

The City of Corpus Christi received a star for transparency of traditional finances. The Texas Comptroller’s Transparency Stars program also includes awards for transparency of contracts and procurement, economic development, public pensions, and debt obligations. The Finance Department’s goal is to receive all five stars.
