Large Number of Cases Cleared During Warrant Roundup’s Amnesty Period
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – As the amnesty period for the 2017 Great Texas Warrant Roundup winds down, the Corpus Christi Municipal Court has seen a significant increase in the number of individuals who have come in to resolve their cases.
Gilbert Hernandez, Director of Municipal Court, says 876 warrants have been cleared from the beginning of the amnesty period on Monday, February 13, 2017 through Wednesday, February 22, 2017. The amnesty period ends at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017.
The numbers are a sharp increase compared to the 428 cases cleared during last year’s entire Warrant Roundup.
Even though the amnesty period ends on Friday, Hernandez says people can still come in on their own free will during the actual Warrant Roundup to pay their fines and clear their warrants to avoid arrest.
