Corpus Christi International Airport to host Girl Scout “Take Flight” Day

Dozens of Girl Scouts from the Coastal Bend will converge on the Corpus Christi International Airport Saturday for a day full of fun and learning. The scouts will work their way through a variety of sessions that include topics like airplanes, flight, air operations, weather, fire prevention, security and safety at airports.

Members of CCIA’s Public Safety division will be providing some of the instruction.

“This is a great opportunity for kids to get a close up look at airplanes and firetrucks which are naturally fascinating to kids of all ages,” CCIA Chief of Public Safety John Hyland said. “We want to foster their interests and curiosity and give them a unique experience.”

The Girl Scout “Take Flight” day will be held at the Del Mar Hangar at CCIA.  This unique facility is currently used by students in the Avionics program at Del Mar.

The Del Mar hangar is located on Glasson Road behind the airport maintenance facility. From the main road, International Drive (heading toward the main terminal), take a left on Glasson and drive straight to the Del Mar facility on the right.
