Mary Rhodes Pipeline Dedication Ceremony

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Today, Mayor Nelda Martinez, Council Members, City Manager Margie C. Rose, Assistant City Manager Mark Van Vleck, City staff and partners across the state celebrated the completion of the Phase II of the Mary Rhodes Pipeline.

The dedication ceremony took place at the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant where water from the pipeline is treated before it is sent to Corpus Christi citizens and Coastal Bend water customers. Phase II will provide a fourth water source in the event of a drought.

The pipeline is named after the late Mayor Mary Rhodes who envisioned an additional water source for the Coastal Bend in 1992 and led Corpus Christi in securing Colorado River water rights from the Garwood Irrigation Company.

Phase II of the project is valued at $154 million.
